TWENTY-NINTH SUNDAY OF YEAR C:
21st October 2007
World Mission Day - Collection of Red Mission Boxes at all Masses
Fr Frank writes:
As I write this my memory of the parish pilgrimage to Poland is still fresh. We had a wonderful, enjoyable
and spiritual time - celebrating Masses in St Mary's, Kracow; Nova Huta; Tyniec Abbey; Wadowice (at the
childhood church of Pope John Paul II); and in the chapel of the Black Madonna and St Paul's chapel in
Czestochowa Basilica - the great centre of pilgrimage in Poland. You were all remembered at all these
Masses.
Of course, the places visited are important, but the essence of pilgrimage is people: the sharing of the
journey, the sharing meals, the many hours of conversation. I am grateful to Poland and to all my fellow
pilgrims for enriching my life. My special thanks go to our organiser, Tony Cornish, for all his hard work, and
his never failing helpfulness and cheerfulness.
Our next pilgrimage will be a day in Winchester on 3rd November (details below). Why not come along?
I shall be away attending a family wedding next weekend. My thanks to the Eucharistic Ministers who will be
providing a service of Holy Communion on Saturday, and to Fr Derek Powney who will be supplying on Sunday.
With every blessing
Fr Frank
