THE RESURRECTION OF THE LORD (EASTER DAY):
23rd March 2008
Father Frank and Anne
and
Deacon Kevin and Cath
Wish you all a happy and blessed Easter.
Surrexit Christus, Alleluia!
Churches Together in Chelmsford cycle of prayer:
- Week beginning:
- 23rd March: Industrial Chaplaincy Team (Joan Goode)
- 30th March: St Luke's, Moulsham Lodge (Rev Susan Ives)
Parish News:
- Red Mission Boxes: will be collected after Mass on 6th April.
- Coffee morning every Friday morning 10am-12noon: at St Augustine's hosted by the SVP.
A good chance to sit and chat over tea/coffee and biscuits. All very welcome.
- Christian Aid Week 11-17 May 2008: £3,876.48! That was the record-breaking total our
combined team of collectors raised last year, including £362.58 from the inspiring Regional Ecumenical
Service at C.O.S. With 1 mango tree costing 65p in Senegal, I think we may have financed a whole plantation! On
average, EACH COLLECTOR, raises enough to set at least 20 families in poorer countries on the road to
self-sufficiency. YOU could do that too - by just keeping a couple of hours free in May.
- Believe - Reflections on the Creed: Fr Frank will be hosting a six-part series, based on a
DVD each week, exploring the treasures of our faith as expressed in the Nicene Creed. The DVDs are presented in
various locations including the Holy Land, Nicaea, Rome, Oxford, Cambridge and London and feature interviews
with prominent men and women of the faith and testimonies from lay people, including Cardinal Arinze, Jean
Vanier, Delia Smith, Fr Cantalmessa, Nicky Gumbel, Abbot of Worth, Archbishop Coleridge, Lord Alton and others.
The sessions will run on six consecutive Fridays from 7.30 - 8.30pm beginning on Friday 18th April and
concluding on Friday May 23rd. If you would like to take part in this inspiring course, please let Fr Frank
know.
