THIRD SUNDAY OF EASTER (YEAR A)
6th April 2008
Fr Frank writes:
This weekend at the New Hall Mass we offer congratulations to Leo and Elizabeth as they celebrate their
Diamond Wedding Anniversary. A wonderful achievement! Congratulations and blessings to you both.
You may have noticed two new trees have made their appearance in the garden at St Augustine's. They are
hornbeams, one in memory of Christopher McIntosh, and the other in memory of John Coyle, two much-missed and
respected members of our community. May they rest in peace.
May our risen, ascended and glorified Saviour bless you.
Fr Frank
Churches Together in Chelmsford cycle of prayer:
- Week beginning:
- 6th April: St Mary's Widford & Holy Spirit, Westlands (Rev Dave
Robbins)
- 13th April: St Mary's Broomfield (Rev Peter Ball)
Parish News:
- Parish Pilgrimage to Padua and Venice (21st - 27th September): there are only 2 places
remaining on this pilgrimage. They are available on a first-come-first-served basis. Contact Tony Cornish on
264821 or click
here to email.
- Pentecost Sunday: falls on 11th May and, once again, I would like the readings at the
Sunday Masses at St Augustine's and the Church of Our Saviour to be in a language other than English. If
you would like to read at one of these Masses (particularly if your first language is not English), I would
like to hear from you. Thank you. Fr Frank.
- Editor for 'The Augustinian': we are looking for someone to edit our quarterly
parish magazine. If you have word processing skills, access to email and are interested, please contact Fr
Frank.
- Christian Aid Week 11-17 May 2008: £3,876.48! That was the record-breaking total our
combined team of collectors raised last year, including £362.58 from the inspiring Regional Ecumenical
Service at C.O.S. With 1 mango tree costing 65p in Senegal, I think we may have financed a whole plantation! On
average, each collector, raises enough to set at least 20 families in poorer countries on the road to
self-sufficiency. YOU could do that too - by just keeping a couple of hours free in May.
- Italian holiday: Many of you will remember Peter and Jenny Hall. They have been living in
the Le Marche region of Italy and now have 2 superb holiday apartments complete with swimming pool and stunning
views of the magnificent Sibillini Mountains which are a 30 minute drive and why not visit Assisi, Loreto and
the Adriatic coast? You are assured of a very warm welcome. For further information contact Jenny and Peter on
0039 0733 653055, click here to email or
visit www.casafenice-lemarche.com. A donation
of 10% will be given to church funds on all bookings this year - please quote CF/AUG/2008. You can also obtain
further info from David & Catherine May on 01245 357814.
