Parish News:
- Tony Cornish writes: Thank you so much for the many Mass Bouquets, your prayers, your best
wishes and your gifts received during my recent stay in hospital. I was utterly overwhelmed with your kindness.
Thank you also for your support to Doreen during this difficult time. Needless to say, I am delighted to be
back with you having missed you so much. You truly are a wonderful caring community and I thank God for that
with all my being.
- Oberammergau 2010: as you know we shall be making a pilgrimage to Bavaria in August 2010.
Because of the high demand for seats at the Passion Play in Oberammergau, which forms a central part of the
pilgrimage, we need to reserve seats this month. If you are interested and would like to find out more, please
contact me without delay. Thank you, Fr Frank
- Parish Party food contributions!: There is a list at the back of Church of food needed to
cater for the Parish Party. Please sign up for whatever you would like to bring.
- I Believe course: will run at St Augustine's from 26th June at 10.30am (following tea
& coffee after morning Mass) for 6 weeks (ending on 31st July). All welcome. It would be helpful if you
could let Michael or Janet Hoare know on 01245 346900 if you are coming.
- Music at New Hall outside term time: the holiday period is almost upon us and we need to
think about music provision at the New Hall Mass. If you can help in any way - singing or playing a musical
instrument - please speak to Jacki Chester (464465)
- Lunch Club at New Hall: exists for the elderly and runs every Tuesday during term time
from 12 - 1.30pm. Lifts are provided to/from your home. If you are interested, please contact Joan Smith (tel.
440339) or have a word with Fr Frank.
- First Holy Communion Programme 2007/2008: As you can appreciate forward planning is
essential for the First Holy Communion Programme. Below are the guidelines for the programme commencing in the
autumn:
- That you are a practising Catholic (attending Mass on a weekly basis)
- That your child has been attending Mass in Springfield Parish for at least the past year.
- That your child is eligible (8 years of age by 31st August 2009)
If you have been attending another parish you need to obtain a letter of reference from the Parish
Priest.
This is a serious commitment by parents and children. If these guidelines can be met please arrange an
interview with Father Frank and pick up an enrolment form from the Presbytery. Please return all forms
to Fr Frank by 4th July 2008. If you have any problems please discuss them with me. Thank you. Fr
Frank.

Sunday Smile:
I didn't know if my granddaughter had learned her colours yet, so I decided to test her. I would point
out something and ask what colour it was. She would tell me, and always she was correct. But it was fun for me,
so I continued. At last she headed for the door, saying sagely, Grandma, I think you should try to work our
some of these yourself.
