SS PETER AND PAUL:
29th June 2008
staugustineofcanterbury (17K)

Today we celebrate a great feast - that of two pillars of our Faith, St Peter and St Paul. So great a feast is it that it displaces the 'normal Sunday' (i.e. the 13th Sunday of Year A). This is most unusual and serves to emphasise its importance. Among other things, it reminds us of the gratitude we ought to show to the Apostles, the Fathers of our Faith, and of our own calling to be Apostles in our generation.

Next Sunday there is a Vigil Mass at 5pm followed by our Parish Party - this is to celebrate the Silver Jubilee of the opening of St Augustine's church. Do try to come along to both, and let's make this a celebration to remember. The Mass, of course, fulfils Sunday obligation.

May the God of good things fill you with every good gift:

Fr Frank

Jean-Paul Sartre is sitting at a French café, revising his draft of Being and Nothingness.
He says to the waitress, I'd like a cup of coffee please with no cream.
The waitress replies, I'm sorry monsieur, but we're out of cream. How about with no milk?
