THE FOURTH SUNDAY OF EASTER (YEAR B):
3rd May 2009
Day of Prayer for Vocations
Fr Frank writes:
Our new burial area for ashes is taking shape at St Augustine's. It's not ready yet, but we
anticipate that interments will be able to take please in the not too distant future. The area will be reserved
for the interment of ashes of departed loved ones who have been associated with one of the two communities who
use the church - it will not become a general burial ground for Springfield. The central feature is now in
place - a standing stone (sourced from Turkey) - surrounded by a paved area (sourced from India). If you have
not yet seen it, do pay a visit. The site can be found on the north side of the church, between the car-park
hedge and the hedge running along the boundary with New Bowers Way. To get there, you will have to walk round
the front of the church (it is deliberately out of the way to deter vandals etc!).
May the God of Peace richly bless you.
Fr Frank

- Pentecost Sunday: 31st May: On Pentecost Sunday I am again hoping that the readings at all
three Masses will be in a language other than English. If you are able and willing to read at one of the Masses
on that day (particularly if your first language is not English) I would like to hear as soon as possible. As
in the past I shall 'sign' the Eucharistic Prayer - so we have the language of the Deaf Community
included in all our Masses that Sunday as well. Thank you, Fr Frank
- Christian Aid Week 10-16 May 2009: Preparations began splendidly on 19th April when almost
half the envelopes were taken. We nearly ground to a halt with little progress last week! Please consider our

our steadfast team of collectors in May. Many thanks. Maureen Henes (tel. 469933)
