THE BODY AND BLOOD OF CHRIST:
14th June 2009
Fr Frank writes:
Today we celebrate the great feast of Corpus Christi. Each day we give God thanks for the great gift of the Eucharist,
but today is singled out as a day when, in union with the whole Church, we give special thanks.
We also give thanks today for Deacon Kevin's ministry among us. Kevin has been deacon in this parish for twenty
years. A remarkable ministry rooted in and fed by the Eucharist. Many congratulations, Kevin. Our prayers are with you on
this very special day.
This coming week Deacon Kevin and I will be leading our parish's Walsingham Association on residential pilgrimage to
Our Lady's Shrine; England's Nazareth. You will all be in our prayers.
My thanks to the Eucharistic Ministers who will be celebrating services of Holy Communion in our absence.
May God be with you to bless you today and always.
Fr Frank

Parish News:
- Parish Annual Report: is currently being prepared. If you run anything in the parish, or are
responsible for some aspect of parish life, please get your entries to Chris Thompson (Email) by 21st
June. We're trying to keep it simple this year - i.e. a Financial report plus a parish directory. Please note the
only information we need is the title of the organisation/area of responsibility, the name and contact details of the
responsible person and any significant news or developments which have taken place over the last year.
- First Holy Communion/Reconciliation Garden Party: will be held in the Presbytery Garden on Sunday
12th July at 2.30pm. Don't forget to let me know whether or not you are able to come. Fr Frank.
- Does your employer operate a Match Funding scheme?: As a registered charity we are eligible to
benefit from schemes where employers will match or contribute to their employees charitable donations. Please consider
investigating whether the company you work for operates such a scheme which would add to your regular offertory giving. A
great way to encourage your employer's philanthropy whilst raising extra funds for the church at no extra expense to
yourself!
- Evangelisation Workshop Saturday 11th July: at St Augustine's 10am - 2.45pm. Lunch will be
provided. The theme will be 'understanding evangelisation within our communities' and is led by Emily Davis of
CaFE. This is a Mid Essex Deanery initiative and comes highly recommended. Start your morning with Mass at 9.30am and end
it by being commissioned to spread the good news. Closing date for replies to Karin Seeman on 01245 466167 Sunday 21st
June.

members of the family might prefer the Sunlight Colourthon which starts at 3pm in Chaldwell Park, Westcliff on Sea. To
register please call Claire Mathews on 01268 784544 or online at www.childcareuk.org

in kind by either caring or helping around the home until he secures employment. This person is CRB checked. He can drive
