Fr Frank writes:
Many thanks to Deacon Kevin and to our Eucharistic Ministers who kept things going during my recent period of compassionate leave. My father's funeral went well (and I managed to read the gospel) and my mother is gradually settling down to a new phase in her life. My mother was touched by your prayers and cards (which I took great pleasure in showing her).
I shall soon be taking my annual holiday and leaving the parish to the gentle ministrations of Fr Charles - much of my time will be spent with family 'up north', but I hope to see you from time to time during August.
May the God of all consolation fill you with every blessing.

From the Parish:
- Come and pray for the Priests of our Deanery: During the Year for Priests there will be weekly Adoration from 11am until 5pm on Thursday at Abbotswick House of Prayer. From October, specific Thursdays have been designated for prayer for the priests at present serving in the different Deaneries of the Diocese of Brentwood. - Final call for the Parish Pilgrimage to Wales Sept 7th - 12th!: A few places are still available before we make the final hotel confirmations. The two main sites, St David's and St Winfred's in Holywell, have been pilgrimage sites since the middle-ages. We will visit Glastonbury and Wells en route staying in a local hotel, followed by three nights in Gwbert-on-sea with a visit to St David's cathedral and the ruins of the Bishops' Palace. On our way to Holywell in North Wales we will visit Bala and the shrine of Our Lady of Fatima. At the shrine of St Winifred, we will celebrate Mass, venerate herrelic and say prayers at the Well. - Mass in Celebration of Marriage and Family: Saturday 26th September 2009. A special Mass to celebrate the vocation of Marriage and the joy of family life. The Mass will take place at 3.30pm and will be followed by a reception in the Cathedral Hall.
