THE BAPTISM OF THE LORD (YEAR C)
9th/10th January 2010
White Flower Appeal
Fr Frank writes:
We continue our series of meditations on 'Home is a Holy Place':
God entrusted the world's garden to a family, so that life, justice and peace could grow there. In loving others
the family makes the compassion of Christ real in the world. Rooted in Jesus Christ, the family is called to transform the
world: to recognise God in every moment and in every thing; to contemplate God in every person; to seek God's will in
all that happens. It is in the rhythm of daily life that families humbly but radically change the world, as they seek to
follow Jesus, Day by day, through simple gestures that brighten the lives of others, they bring to the heart of the world
the Christian values of generosity and love. (from the Bishops of the Americas).

I shall be away on retreat from Monday until Thursday. My thanks to Deacon Kevin and to our Eucharistic Ministers for
holding services of Holy Communion in my absence.
May the God of peace continue to bless you throughout 2010.

Sunday Smile:
Mildred was the church gossip.
She made a mistake, however, when she accused George, a new member, of being an alcoholic after she saw his old car parked
outside the town's only pub one afternoon.
She emphatically pointed this out to George (and many others too). George, a man of few words, stared at her for a moment
and quietly walked away.
Later that evening, George quietly parked his old car in front of Mildred's house…
walked home…
and left it there all night!
