First Holy Communion

Children from the age of 7+ who are attending Sunday mass are invited to prepare to receive their First Holy Communion. The Christine Brussleman Course is used. The classes begin in the autumn and meet twice monthly on Monday, 4 p.m. - 4:45 p.m.. The themes that the children follow are Belonging, Celebrating, Listening, Caring, Making Peace, Giving Thanks, Sharing a Meal and Let's Go Forth. Once a month this is reflected in the Sunday liturgy.

Each month the parents also met with Father Frank and Deacon Kevin to discuss the theme their children are preparing. Application Forms for entry to the programme (children entering Year 3 in the September when the course starts) can be obtained from Father Frank.

First Reconciliation

The children first receive the sacrament of reconciliation during their First Holy Communion programme. A short course designed to improve the children's understanding of the sacrament of reconciliation is then held in the Lent following the year in which they make their First Holy Communion.
